Bogotá in the Spotlight for the 2015 Ophthalmology Convention

Bogotá is a strong candidate in the runnings for being the headquarters to the 2015 Pan American Ophthalmology Congress. For this reason, members of the PAAO (Pan American Association of Ophthalmology) recently made their way to the city for an inspection visit.

During their stay, they attended a presentation by the Convention Center, and they inspected the Corferias REM as possible locations for the event’s headquarters.

Also, along with the Bogotá Convention Bureau, Proexport and the Sociedad Colombiana de Oftalmología, they visited hotels near Corferias and the city’s main tourist attractions. Among their activities, the main one to highlight was coffee tasting offered by ADVANTA, Agencia Logística de Eventos y Turismo, which is affiliated with the Bogotá Convention Bureau.

The Pan American Congress is considered as on of the profession’s most important congresses, with an average of 4,000 participants. Held every two years, Buenos Aires hosted the event in 2011, in 2013 it will be Rio de Janeiro, and our hope is that Bogotá will be included amongst this select group of cities.
